IEC Code is unique code issued by DGFT - Director General of Foreign Trade. IEC Code is known as Importer Exporter Code IEC Code is the Ist primary document issued by G O I as an Exporter/Importer. On the basis of IEC Code, companies can obtain various benefits on their exports/imports from DGFT etc.

1. No export or import can be made by any person/company without an Importer Exporter Code / IEC Coce Number unless specifically exempted.

2. An application for grant of IEC number shall be made by the Registered/Head Office of the applicant to the licensing authority concerned in the form specified and shall be accompanied by documents prescribed therein.

3. An IEC number allotted to an applicant will be valid for all its branches/divisions/units/factories as indicated in the format of IEC given

4. IEC Number Lost/Import Export Code Number is lost or mis placed, the issuing authority may consider requests for grant of a duplicate copy of IEC number, if accompanied by an affidavit.

5. If an IEC holder does not wish to operate the allotted IEC number, he may surrender the same by informing the issuing authority.
